On May 5, 2025, Shaolin Temple of Canada, led by Master Shi Yandi and Master Shi Yanyan, was deeply honoured to be invited to the BC Legislative Assembly to perform and take part in the 3rd Annual BC Buddhist Culture Day—the first official proclamation of its kind by any government in North America.

This historic moment stands as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through compassion, unity, and the collective goodwill of both Buddhist and non-Buddhist communities.

Over 130 students, families, and friends travelled to Victoria, BC to join in this celebration. The day began with inspiring remarks from The Honourable Teresa Wat, The Honourable John Rustad, and The Honourable Paul Choi.

It concluded with closing remarks by Master Shi Yandi, who shared reflections on the spirit of Shaolin culture, the compassion and hopes of Buddhism, and ended with a heartfelt Prayer for Peace.

Our students delivered an unforgettable Shaolin Kung Fu performance in the Hall of Honour, witnessed by a packed crowd—including MLAs and special guests. The event concluded with a breathtaking finale by Master Shi Yanyan, demonstrating the precision, discipline, and essence of Shaolin.

After the performance, we were invited into the Legislative Gallery to witness the official announcement—a profound and memorable honour.

On September 29, 2024, Shaolin Temple of Canada proudly celebrated its 6th anniversary and the official approval of its status as a registered Canadian charity.

A video message from the Venerable Abbot Shi Yongxin, head of the Shaolin Temple in China, was shared during the event. He congratulated Shaolin Temple of Canada on its 6th anniversary and the recent approval of its charitable status.

In his opening address, Master Shi Yandi, Abbot of Shaolin Temple of Canada, reflected on the temple’s six-year journey, highlighting its transformation into a symbol of physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.

On the radiant afternoon of Sunday, September 15, 2024, Shaolin Temple of Canada proudly took part in the 6th Annual Chinese Culture & Art Festival, set against the iconic backdrop of the Vancouver Art Gallery plaza. The event drew a vibrant crowd, eager to witness a display of authentic Shaolin Kung Fu.

Our students performed with remarkable precision and spirit, captivating the audience with their skillful techniques. Master Shi Yanyan 师父 delivered a breathtaking demonstration of traditional Shaolin martial arts, embodying the grace, power, and discipline of the Shaolin tradition.

A special highlight of the day was the debut performance of our Little Shaolin Tigers. Despite some initial nerves, these young martial artists demonstrated resilience and courage, pushing through to deliver an inspiring display of determination and focus. Their performance, guided and supervised by our esteemed Headmaster, Master Shi Yandi 法师, was a testament to the strength of Shaolin values and training.

The festival was a celebration not only of Chinese culture but of the enduring spirit of Shaolin. We are deeply honoured to have been part of such a meaningful event, sharing the rich legacy of Shaolin with the Vancouver community.
